Distinction of Students in an International Business Game Competition

A group of students from the School of Mechanical Engineering of NTUA, under the guidance of the Industrial Engineering Laboratory, participated in the international competition ERPsim Game EMEA South 2021 taking the 1st place among 13 teams from other Universities abroad (Southern Europe, Middle East, and Africa). The competition was organized by SAP University Alliances in collaboration with the ERPsim Lab of the HEC Montreal University which has developed the game simulator. In this competition, each of the 13 groups of students ran a virtual food production business using the SAP S/4 HANA information system, performing sales and production processes, with dynamic data generated by a simulator.

The NTUA team managed to emerge as the winner having the best performance in all the financial figures of its virtual company, with a big difference from the other teams. During the competition, the team should make important decisions regarding the sales and production planning strategy as well as the execution of business processes using the SAP system, under time pressure. The team achieved success through good preparation, harmonious cooperation and effective decision-making during the competition.

The team that represented Greece in the competition and the NTUA School of Mechanical Engineering, consisted of Aspasia-Tallinn Vozikian, Antonios Kitsandas, Anastasios Latsoudis and Konstantinos Chondros, under the guidance of the teaching and research staff of the Industrial Engineering Laboratory, Dr. Sotirios Gayialis and Dr. Georgios Papadopoulos.

It should be noted that the Industrial Engineering Laboratory is using the SAP Enterprise Resource Planning system, as well as the ERPsim business game software for educational and research purposes and students of the School of Mechanical Engineering can practice on them during their studies.
